In the whirling dance we are aligning with the greater reality, whilst connecting with our own inner spark of inspiration, activating deep remembrance.

Anna Ruya brings the circular patterns of whirling and ritualistic conscious movement together to co-create safe communal spaces for empowered embodiment. She is a life-long dancer who focuses on the mystical practices of Sufi whirling, with the influences of Alevi Bektasi dance.

This all-levels class embraces a whole person attitude to dance practice, making it suitable for both the beginner and advanced dancer. Every class begins with movement rituals infused with intention and meaning. Focus is upon development of core movement essentials including breath-body alignment , spinal suppleness and release technique. The basis of the patterns used arise from the exploration of circles, spirals and cycles that we discover within the physical, energetic and collective body.
