About the event
December 13th at the Old Church will borne a site-specific ceremony of tones and drones. A night of ambient invocation, guided by artists ION, Christina Deva, Moormur. Primeval instrument selection synergises to construct a portal revealing the venerated origins of this great structure, the assemblage including Organ, Bowed Psaltery, Lyre, Calabash, all sewn together by harmonic incantation.
Opening the night: PRESENCE is an experimental duo fusing cathartic post-rock guitars and loops (Alex Nunn) with the healing swells of gongs and bells (Giulia Cavallini). Their music explores the healing potential of encountering emotions in the raw - building from soft subtle ambience to explosive, distorted climactic drones.
The evening promises emanations of atavism, a vehicle for ION's artistic tenets; to harness the use of sound as a means for its’ ancient function of divination.
